Plan your workouts

Planning your workouts is key to staying on track, especially when adopting a new lifestyle and pace. When you plan your workouts, you reduce your opportunities to make excuses, like the classic “I’ll just do it tomorrow,” and avoid falling into a vicious cycle of procrastination. Planning also helps you to maintain the frequency of your workouts, which in turn helps you to reach your goals within the timelines you set yourself.

Here are a few helpful tricks:

  • Write down your workout days in a calendar.
  • Invite friends to work out with you.
  • Prepare your gym bag the day before.
  • Download mobile apps to help you plan, track, and save your workouts.
  • Don’t cancel a single workout!

Work out with friends

It’s no secret: working out with friends is twice as motivating! With a workout partner, you can push your limits and get out of your comfort zone while sharing the joy of an active lifestyle with friends or family. They can also help you plan and stick to your workouts, since skipping a session is harder when someone is waiting and counting on you!

Diversify your activities

The body gets used to repeated exertion. For this reason, it’s important to vary your routine to maintain progress and prevent your workouts from becoming monotonous.

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Sing up for an athletic challenge.
  • Complement your workouts with group classes.
  • Try a new group class.
  • Try a new sport.
  • Switch up your workout methods.

Most importantly, have fun during each of your workouts.

Be motivated and positive

Find your source of inspiration and positive motivation for a confidence boost every day. Constantly remind yourself why you started working out and stay on track for reaching your goals. You can also follow positive social media personalities, download encouraging messages on your phone to look at later, or keep a notebook of inspirational phrases for a boost of positivity and motivation.

Take useful breaks

Listen to your body: if you feel the need to rest, take a useful break. A useful break is simply a short rest period which allows your body to recuperate and improves performance. Simply put, you stop to make more progress. Also take a moment to enjoy the feeling of wellness and serenity that follows your workout.

There are several other habits you can adopt to live an active life. The best way to get there: find what makes you happy and motivates you to get moving!
