Precious Advice From A Marathon Runner

Published on 8 September 2017

1. Never Start Too Quickly

If there is one thing you should remember, it’s this one: starting with a sprint is too easy. Don’t let yourself get carried away by the crowd’s enthusiasm. Avoid getting caught in that pitfall and surf on that wave. The best way to start a race is to imagine you are running on your usual course, on a street near your house, find your comfort zone and maintain a slow pace.

2. Finish Strong

If you follow the previous advice, there are more chances you’ll be able to apply the second one. There is nothing more satisfying than to feel strong when reaching the finish line! The crowd’s vibrant energy will surely give you the strength to sprint through the last metres of the race. Go, go, go!

3. Stay Natural

Copy your training routine onto your race. You should: swing your arms, don’t form fists with your hands, don’t exaggerate the movement of your legs, stay calm and relaxed, breathe normally, and above all, finish your race with a smile on your face. The most important thing is to have fun!
