You know all about New Year’s resolutions, right? What are yours for 2010? In fact, it’s not really so much about knowing what you want to change or improve during the upcoming year as it is about which tools you intend to use and which efforts, indeed - and let’s not hesitate to say it - which sacrifices you’re prepared to make to reach your goal. Regardless of the destination you want to reach, everything starts with a decision – your decision – to travel the road that will lead you to where you want to get to and to surmount the obstacles you’ll face as you go along that road. Good luck and it will be our pleasure to accompany you on your journey!

Making a training resolutionIt’s a timeless tradition: the new year brings new resolutions – to spend more time with the family, go back to school, quit smoking, finish the bathroom, and the list goes on. |
Lose weight by eating moreMany of you will be surprised to learn that you can lose weight simply by eating more! All you have to do is choose foods with low energetic density, i.e. foods that contain few calories by weight in grams. |
A resolution that works: a habitAre you one of those people who are never able to keep a resolution? You are not alone! Resolutions alone don't work. The key is to develop a habit. |

Kilo Cardio SilhouetteAccording to the results of a health survey in the Canadian community published by Statistics Canada in 2004, the proportion of Canadians who are overweight or obese has increased tremendously in the past few years. In 2004, 59.1% of Canadians had a body mass index of 25 or more, which indicates that they are either overweight or obese. The same survey revealed, as should have been expected, that the likelihood of being obese is linked to diet and lack of physical exercise. Major lifestyle changes are therefore vital. The Kilo Cardio Silhouette private training program is what Énergie Cardio suggests to its clients concerned about incorporating physical activity and good eating habits into their lifestyle. Based on your weight-loss goals, we will recommend a program spread out over 8, 16 or 24 weeks that combines physical activity (from one to three weekly training sessions supervised by a certified personal trainer) and a healthy diet following the guidelines of a book especially developed for the program. Filled to the brim with relevant advice on how to reach your goal, the Kilo Cardio book by authors Isabelle Huot, Doctor in Nutrition, Josée Lavigueur, physical educator, and Guy Bourgeois, motivator and instructor, will be given to you when you register and will accompany you throughout your journey towards a healthy weight. Easy and delicious recipes, complete daily menus, removable grocery lists, nutritional, exercise and motivation advice: you will have all the tools required for your program. At Énergie Cardio, everything is put into place to support your weight-loss program. All that is missing is you! |

If you had asked me barely a year ago what physical shape I was in, I would have probably turned red before answering that I had quite a bit of work to do in that regard. I had already been a fairly sporty type and knew the benefits of regular physical activity, but I was well settled in my routine and had fallen into bad habits. In April, at which point I weighed 160 lb, I decided to take action. My Fit Test showed I had the body of a 47-year-old woman, not exactly wonderful for a 21-year-old.
