More than ever, we are reminded of the importance of a healthy and balanced diet. Unfortunately, too many people continue to think of a healthy diet as being restrictive and boring. Yet, so much pleasure can be derived from a healthy diet. One such pleasure is discovering local foods and this happens to be the message that Dietitians of Canada are hoping to convey in March during Nutrition Month. Under the theme Celebrate food... from field to table!, the 2010 campaign focuses on the benefits of selecting foods that are grown and produced locally, with the promise of freshness, variety and quality! What could be better than doing away with boredom and making each meal an adventure.
